Something new is in the last stages of prep work at Playhouse Square.

Qdoba Mexican Grill, a fast-casual Mexican restaurant, is scheduled to open its doors later this month at the Post Road East complex.

The restaurant is a place that offers fresh, handcrafted meals, according to corporate publicity.

The menu includes burritos, quesadillas, tacos and taco salads, all of which can be customized.

For example, customers pick from a list of options, such as the type of tortilla and rice and beans they'd like for their burrito, and if they want chicken, beef or pork. There's also a variety of "add-ons" like salsa, cheese, and guacomole.

The company was founded in Denver in 1995 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Jack in the Box, Inc. It is among North America's largest Mexican fast-casual chains with more than 600 restaurants in 47 states, the District of Columbia and Canada, the company indicated.

The other three Qdoba restaurants in Connecticut are located in Fairfield, Norwalk and Hartford.
