A Hartford man was arrested on a warrant last week in connection with what police described as a check-cashing scheme here.

Pablo Antonetty, 43, of Main Street in Hartford was charged with fifth-degree larceny and first-degree forgery.

On July 19, Westport officers went to the Wethersfield Police Department and took custody of Antonetty on the outstanding warrant.

The warrant was issued based on a complaint received by First County Bank on June 10 concerning forged checks that had been cashed, according to police.

Local detectives were able to identify Antonetty as one of the suspects in a check-cashing scheme, the report said.

The warrant alleges that Antonetty cashed a check from a company at the bank that was not authorized and later it was determined to be counterfeit, police said.

Bond was set at $35,000 bond and he is scheduled to appear July 29 in Superior Court.
