WESTPORT — A New Haven woman previously banned from all Whole Foods store locations shoplifted in Westport, police said.
Store security reported a woman, Briana Pennell, 34, hid several items in her purse but paid for only one item at checkout and then left the store. Police said Pennell fled the scene when confronted by store security, who then provided officers with the license plate of the vehicle in which Pennell fled.
An arrest warrant was granted for Pennell and on Jan. 12, Norwalk police contacted Westport to say they had detained Pennell, who was then transported to Westport. She was charged with sixth-degree larceny and criminal trespassing of the first degree. Pennell was held on a $20,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Court Jan. 23.
