WESTPORT — A Westport man was taken into custody after his car was found idling outside the Westport Public Library, police said.

On Dec. 1 around 10 a.m., officers were alerted that a car was running and unoccupied outside the library. A check of the car’s registration revealed the owner to be resident Michael Greene, who had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest, police said.

Officers took Greene, 65, into custody and brought him to police headquarters, where he was charged with second-degree failure to appear and released after posting a $500 bond. Greene is scheduled to appear in the State Superior Court of Norwalk Dec. 27.
