WESTPORT — A 42-year-old New Haven woman has been accused of stealing $900 worth of merchandise from CVS.

Westport police said officers responded to CVS Pharmacy on Post Road East on a theft complaint around 6 a.m. on Sept. 13.

Employees reported a man and woman had entered the store and filled reusable shopping bags with $900 worth of merchandise, police said.

When questioned by a staff member prior to exiting, police said the man clenched his fist and threatened to stab the employee with a syringe. The two then left the store without paying and fled in a waiting vehicle, police said.

Through investigation, the female suspect was identified as Amy Kiernan, police said. An arrest warrant was then sought and granted.

Kiernan was taken into custody Wednesday on the active warrant. She was charged with first-degree robbery, fifth-degree larceny, first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery and fifth-degree conspiracy to commit larceny.

She was released on a written promise to appear and is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday.
