Police: Accused embezzler turns himself in
WESTPORT — A Bridgeport man arrested for embezzling $23,000 from a Westport business last year turned himself in to Westport police after allegedly failing to appear for his September court date.
Michael McCrorken, 28, turned himself in Dec. 5 and was charged with first degree failure to appear. McCrorken, unable to post his $25,000 bond, was transported to Norwalk Court for arraignment later that morning.
McCrorken was accused of stealing more than $23,00 from the Westport-based catering company, A Dash of Salt, by cashing fraudulent checks. He was charged with 37 counts of first-degree forgery and second-degree larceny.
The Bridgeport resident was due in Norwalk Superior Court Sept. 7 for those charges but failed to appear.
