Westport Country Playhouse will present a free Sunday Symposium about the comedy "The Show-Off" and its author, George Kelly, following the Sunday, June 16, 3 p.m. matinee performance of the play.

Set in 1920s Philadelphia, the comedy is about a family in upheaval when their youngest daughter becomes engaged to a brash loudmouth.

The symposium's guest speaker will be Murray Biggs, associate professor of English and theater at Yale University, and the moderator will be David Kennedy, Playhouse associate artistic director.

The symposium is open to the public -- including those who may have seen a different performance -- after the matinee concludes, the Playhouse said in a news release.

The symposium series is designed to provide guest speakers' in-depth insights and observations about productions. They are followed by interactive dialogues.

Biggs has taught 25 different courses in acting, directing, dramatic literature, and film since joining the Yale faculty in 1986. He also directs student productions.
