Westport Public Library will hold a "Past Exposures" exhibit by photographer MaryEllen Hendricks through Wednesday, Sept. 26, in the library's Great Hall, 20 Jesup Road. An opening reception will be held 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 13.

After graduating with a bachelor of fine arts degree in photography from Pratt Institute about 30 years ago, Hendricks focused on night photography for years, "light-painting" her subjects with tools that included a high-intensity flashlight. Ten years ago, she started using a barrel lens from the late 1800s to her 4x5 view camera to emulate work by late 19th- & early 20th-century photographers.

Recently, she began exploring portraiture and landscapes with large-format cameras and antique lenses, printing images with platinum and gum bichromate vintage processes, according to a library news release.
