Born in Caserta, Italy, on Feb. 4, 1940, son of the late Joseph and Francesca Izzo Carusone, he had been a resident of Westport for the past 46 years. Prior to retiring, Carusone had been employed by Pepperidge Farm in Norwalk for 35 years.
He was a talented gardener and enjoyed clamming, fishing and making wine. He loved spending time with his family and friends, telling stories and enjoying food and drink.
Survivors include one daughter, Francesca Carusone of Westport; one son, Joseph P. Carusone and his wife, Heather of Norwalk; four sisters, Angelina Carusone, Carmella Carusone and Rosa Carusone, all of Italy, and Giovanna Carusone of France; two brothers, Giovanni Carusone of Italy and Dante Carusone of New Haven; two grandchildren, Michelle and Peter Carusone of Norwalk; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one brother, Archangelo Carusone.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral Thursday, April 22, at 9:30 a.m. from the Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Road E., Westport, and at 10 in Assumption Church, 98 Riverside Ave., Westport, for a Mass of Christian Burial; interment will follow in Willowbrook Cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the funeral home today, April 21, from 4 to 8 p.m.
