GLORIA E. ALLEN Gloria E. Allen, 84, of Westport died Oct. 2, 2009, at Norwalk Hospital, after a long illness. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., on Sept. 19, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Edna Hanley Wall. For many years, Allen was employed by Burndy Corp., where she managed the entire sales personnel car fleet. She volunteered for Norwalk Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation Center for approximately 15 years -- service for which was ultimately recognized as volunteer of the year. While her sons Michael and Bruce were growing up, she volunteered during the boy's basketball and baseball seasons. She would keep score for their Biddy Basketball Games and their Norwalk Babe Ruth Leagues. An avid bowler who won many tournaments, Allen also enjoyed playing softball and was a great fan of baseball and basketball. She is survived by her two sons, Michael Fratino and his wife, Sheryl, of Chester, Vt., and Bruce Fratino and his wife, Ginny, of Danbury; grandchildren, Frances Heberts and her husband, Mark, of Londonderry, Vt., Christa Fratino of Londonderry, Vt.; Nicole and Cara Fratino of Danbury; and a great-grandchild, Moriah Heberts of Londonderry, Vt. Allen was predeceased by a sister, Jean Wigand. A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., Norwalk. Born in Westport on April 22, 1916, she was a life-long resident. She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Alfred A. Holms. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Holms Cook and her husband, Jim, of Westport; her son, Michael Holms and his wife, Barbara, of Fairfield; three grandsons, Christopher Holms and his wife, Christina, of Trumbull; Matthew Holms of St. Louis, Mo., and Adam Holms of New York; two great-grandsons, Alexander and Andrew Holms of Trumbull. Holms is also survived by one brother, Rocco Urciuoli of Westport, and many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial Thursday, Oct. 22, at 10:30 a.m., at Saint Luke Church, 49 Turkey Hill Road N., Westport. MARTHA COOKMAN KIMBERLY Martha Cookman Kimberly, 65, of Fairfield, wife of the late Oliver A. Kimberly Jr., died Oct. 14, 2009, after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late John and Anne Cookman, and sister of the late Thomas Cookman. Kimberly is survived by her siblings, Shirley Babington, Edward Babington and John Cookman Jr.; children, Tucker Cavanaugh, David Cavanaugh and Jeffrey Kimberly; grandchildren, Graham Cavanaugh, Jake Cavanaugh and Hannah Cavanaugh; and three stepchildren. Services will be held at the Congregational Church of Greens Farms in Westport, at 11 a.m., on Friday, Oct. 23.
