WESTPORT — A Bridgeport man was arrested following a motor vehicle stop in Westport March 18.
Around 10:30 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle traveling in the area of 300 Post Road East and completed a registration check for the vehicle, which returned no results. Officers pulled over the vehicle and learned the registration plates belonged on a different vehicle and the car in use had no insurance coverage, police said.
The driver, Sam Galindo, possessed no identification and had a suspended driver’s license, police said. Officers detected an odor of marijuana coming from Galindo’s car and found less than half an ounce of marijuana in the car.
The 20-year-old was taken into custody and taken to police headquarters, where he was charged with misuse of plates, illegal operation under suspension, and insurance coverage fails minimum requirements. He was issued an infraction for the marijuana possession and released on a promise to appear. Galindo is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Court March 29.
