Historical Society meeting Jan. 28
WESTPORT — The annual meeting of the Westport Historical Society will take place in the Sheffer Gallery at 25 Avery Place, across from Westport Town Hall, from 1 to 2 p.m. on Jan. 28.
Those interested in becoming members can pick up a membership form at the society or join at westporthistory.org. The slate of officers, directors and Advisory Council for 2018 will be presented for approval.
The opening reception of the society’s newest exhibit, “The Curious Case of Ed Vebell,” will take place after the meeting,
Super Bowl tailgate party set for Feb. 4
WESTPORT — The Friends of the Westport Center for Senior Activities will host the 11th annual Super Bowl Tailgate Party on Sunday, Feb. 4, from 1 to 4 p.m. Ceremonies will begin at 2 p.m. The event is open to all ages.
The Staples boys cross country track team and the girls field hockey team will be honored.
An award for service to the senior center will be presented to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution through volunteer service, demonstrating commitment, attitude and dedication to the center.

State of the Town meeting Jan. 28
WESTPORT — Westport First Selectman Jim Marpe and Board of Education Chairman Michael Gordon will speak at a town hall- style State of the Town meeting on Sunday, Jan. 28, at 4 p.m. in the Town Hall auditorium.
Marpe and Gordon will present their thoughts about the town and the schools, followed by a question-and-answer session moderated by RTM deputy moderator and Westport Rotary President-elect Jeffrey Wieser.
Refreshments will follow in the Town Hall lobby.
The State of the Town is being sponsored as a joint initiative of the Westport Rotary and the Westport Sunrise Rotary. Rotary is an international service organization with over 34,000 clubs and 1.9 million members worldwide.
