Firefighters extinguished turkey fryer fire

WESTPORT — Firefighters were able to quickly put out a fire caused by a turkey in a fryer on Thanksgiving Day, fire officials said.

Around 3:30 p.m., Westport firefighters got a call about a turkey fryer fire that was close to a house.

Four engines, a ladder truck and the shift commander all responded to the home.

“Companies found a turkey fryer fire in the backyard that was not threatening to burn the house. The fire was quickly extinguished.”

After this incident, Westport fire officials reminded residents to always keep turkey fryers away from any structure.
