Music for Youth to present brass quintet
Music for Youth's Free Young Person's Concert series will present a performance by the America Brass Quintet at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at Pequot Library, 720 Pequot Ave., Fairfield.
Group members -- Raymond Mase and Kevin Cobb on trumpets, David Wakefield on horn, Michael Powell on trombone and John D. Rojak on bass trombone -- will perform works from the Renaissance through the 21st century in a youth-friendly, program. The 50-minute show will be free for all families with children and geared towards ages 5-18, according to a news release.
The ensemble, having recently won Chamber Music America's national service award, has performed in the United States, Europe, Central and South America, the Middle East, Asia and Australia since its founding in 1960.
The quintet, in residence at the Juilliard School since 1987 and at the Aspen Music Festival since 1970, gives mini-residency programs for students as part of its regular touring session, the release states.
No tickets or advanced sign-up are required; adults without children should make a goodwill donation.
