Munson's Chocolates, a Connecticut-based candy maker since 1946, last week closed its Westport location after 20 years at 1460 Post Road East.

Karen Munson, the company's third-generation owner, said the lease for the 2,000-square-foot space had ended and the firm is looking to expand to other parts of the state.

"At this time, we're looking for other retail opportunities," she said.

The Westport location employed "less than 10" workers, she said.

The company, founded by Ben and Josephine Munson as the Dandy Candy Co. in Manchester, today is headquartered in Bolton with eight other stores throughout the state, according to its website. Its other retail venues include shops in Simsbury, Newington, Mystic, Orange, South Windsor, Glastonbury, West Hartford and Farmington.
