"Money in Politics" will be the topic of a Wednesday program sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Westport.

The program, open to the public, will take place at 7 p.m. in Town Hall.

The panelists will be Jeff Clements, author of "Corporations Are Not People: Reclaiming Democracy from Big Money & Global Corporations"; John McKinney, former Republican state senator, and Cheri Quickmire, executive director of Common Cause of Connecticut. Allison Rivard, the vice president of public issues for the League of Women Voters of Connecticut, will present the state league's position on campaign finance reform.

Clements is co-founder and chairman of the board of "Free Speech for People," a national nonpartisan campaign to defend equal voting rights by overturning "Citizens United v. FEC," according to LWV publicity for the event.

McKinney represented the 28th state Senate District from 1999-2015 and was the minority leader in the Senate.

Prior to Common Cause, Quickmire was the executive director of One Connecticut, a statewide coalition of 100 organizations working to reform the state tax structure.
