A demonstration of mindful meditation will take place Friday at the Westport Library.

The free program, from noon to 1 p.m., will be led by fitness teacher and health educator Benay Rubin.

The technique can help to reduce stress, as well as support healing from a variety of chronic illnesses, according to a news release.

Participants should wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat or a large towel.

Rubin is a holistic nutritionist and certified personal trainer, who owns her own integrative fitness business. She is certified to teach Pilates, yoga, the Lotte Berk method (the original Barre fitness program) and Jon Kabat-Zinn’s mindful-based stress reduction training program.
