Metro-North Railroad has returned to normal late this morning after wire problems in East Norwalk earlier disrupted service for commuters using both Westport railroad stations.

Because of the problem, eastbound trains skipped both the Saugatuck and Greens Farms depots for several hours, forcing passengers to use the Southport station.

And commuters headed toward New York had to board trains from platforms on the opposite side of the tracks from the standard westbound platforms.

The incident also caused delays in both directions during the morning commute.
