Westporter Luke McCambley continued his winning ways in the Road Runners series as he won his fourth straight race of the summer, this time in a 4.7 mile run starting at Longshore Club Park. He led 164 runners over the flat, scenic and certified course with the time of 26:06. McCambley’s time, however, was well off the course record of 23:36 set by Dave Peterson, of Fairfield in 1983. The first woman to finish was Emily Lewson, of Ridgefield in 13th place overall with the time of 33:20. Lewson’s time was also short of the course record of 27:40 set by Cate Allen, of Fairfield, in 2014.

Second and third places in the men’s division in Saturday’s race were awarded to fellow Westporters Jon Foster and Daniel Landy with respective times of 26:20 and 27:07. Second and third places in the women’s division were awarded to Meredith Ott, of New York City, in 31st overall and Jane Ott, of Darien, in thirty-sixth place with respective times of 33:38 and 33:57. Other Westport-Weston residents who finished in the top ten were Tom Harding, fifth in 27:41, and Paul Greenberg, eighth in 28:45.

The next scheduled Road Runners race will be held on Saturday, August 6 at 8 a.m. with a 5.85 mile run starting at Compo Beach. Registration begins at 7:30 at the Brick Pavilion located near the cannons. The fee for the program is $30 for Westport residents and $60 for non-residents. In addition, participants have the option of paying a weekly fee of $5 (resident) or $10 (non-resident).
