Marie M. Cecarelli, 86, of Derby, mother of MaryAnn Meyer of Westport, died June 9 in her home. She was the wife of the late former Derby Mayor Edward J. Cecarelli for 49 years.

Born July 4, 1924, in Worcester, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Guido and Eugenia (Cristiani) Gambaccini and was a Derby resident for 63 years after growing up in New Haven.

In addition to her daughter, she is survived by a son, Joseph J. Cecarelli of Northford; a daughter, Melanie J. Cecarelli and her life partner, Michael O. Smith of West Hartford; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Cecarelli and her husband, Eric Verab of Bethany, James Cecarelli of Somerville, Mass., and Eric Meyer of Westport; a daughter-in-law, Rita Cecarelli of Milford; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Gambaccini of Westport; and several nieces and nephews.

She was precedeased by a brother, Mario M. Gambaccini, and nephew, Fred Cecarelli.

Calling hours are 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 13, at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Jude's Church, Derby. Private burial will be in Mount St. Peter's Cemetery, Derby.
