A Norwalk man is facing a reckless driving charge following an incident on Charles Street last week.

Marc Coppola of Grumman Avenue in Norwalk was arrested Oct. 7 following a motor vehicle stop after a police officer said he saw someone trying to leave the rear of Coppola's vehicle as it sped off and made a right turn onto Charles Street.

Coppola, 22, was charged with reckless driving, not greater than 85 miles per hour, and failure to obey a control signal.

After making the turn onto Charles Street, Coppola failed to stop for the red traffic control signal, police said.

"A motor vehicle stop was conducted and officers learned that Coppola's ex-girlfriend had been attempting to exit the vehicle after a verbal argument," police said.

Coppola was released after posting a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear Oct. 17 in Norwalk Superior Court.
