Man faces drug charges after traffic stop
A Fairfield man is facing numerous drug charges following a motor vehicle stop on Indian Hill Road early Tuesday morning.
Benny Palmieri, 26, of Millspaugh Drive, was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of a hallucinogen, sale of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Palmieri was stopped around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday after failing to use his turn signal, police said.
"Officers observed cash and a small black pouch on the console of the vehicle, which Palmieri later hid when asked to step out of the vehicle," according to the police report.
He was "found to be in possession of a small glass pipe, commonly used for narcotics," the report said.
Officers' search of the vehicle also found crystal methamphetamine, ecstasy, a small digital scale and packaging materials, according to police.
Palmieri admitted that the substance was crystal methamphetamine and also said that he had been selling it earlier, the report states.
He was released after posting a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear March 28 in Norwalk Superior Court.
