Robert Morris, 52, of 57 Pell Meadow Drive, was charged Tuesday with driving under the influence and failure to drive right in connection with a Nov. 4 accident, when he struck a Harbor Road fence that belongs to the Pequot Yacht Club.
Morris, picked up on a warrant by Westport police, had not been charged the night of the accident because he was taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport immediately afterwards, according to Sgt. Suzanne Lussier, a police spokesman.
When police arrived at the Harbor Road accident scene in November, they allegedly found Morris' Dodge Caravan was still in gear with the stereo playing at a high volume.
