A Stamford man has been charged with stealing auto parts following a "suspicious person" complaint Monday morning.
William Mimms, 54, of Pacific Street, Stamford, was charged with fifth-degree larceny on an outstanding warrant.
He was arrested after police were dispatched to the area of West Parish Road on a complaint about a so-called suspicious person around 4:30 a.m. Monday.
The complaint alleged that a man, later identified as Mimms, was trespassing on private property. It was later determined by police that he was a suspect in a June 27 incident where a drive shaft was stolen off a vehicle at a Post Road East garage, according to the report.
Further investigation led to identification of Mimms as a suspect and a warrant was secured for his arrest, according to police.
Mimms was taken into custody around 4:24 a.m. Monday. Bond was set at $1,500 and he is scheduled to appear Sept. 25 in Norwalk Superior Court.
