Update: According to the state's attorney the charges against Manbir Waraich were dismissed.
A 36-year-old Bulkley Avenue North man is accused of trying to strangle his wife during a domestic dispute in their home Saturday night.
Officers were dispatched to the home of Manbir Waraich, 36, about 10:45 p.m. Saturday after receiving a 911 call about an altercation.
Waraich told officers that his wife had bitten his hand and threatened him with a knife, according to the report. She admitted to biting his hand, but said she had done it to stop Waraich from choking her, police said. When she attempted to call 911, Waraich allegedly snatched her cell phone from her hand.
Waraich was charged with second-degree strangulation, disorderly conduct and interfering with an emergency call.
He was released on $2,500 bond and was scheduled to have appeared Monday in Norwalk Superior Court.
