Man charged with grocery shoplifting after foot chase by cops

A Bridgeport man has been charged with shoplifting at the local Super Stop & Shop.
William Ambrose, 34, of Gregory Street, Bridgeport, was charged with sixth-degree larceny.
Officers were called to the Super Stop & Shop on Post Road East about 2 p.m. Saturday, and when they arrived, were told that a suspect had run from store security personnel into a wooded area,
Police surrounded the wooded lot and, after a brief foot pursuit, captured Ambrose and placed him in custody, according to a police report.
Ambrose took approximately $132 worth of assorted groceries, but left them at the store once confronted by security officers, according to police.
He was also charged with interfering with a police officer.
