Mark Hyde, 63, of Fairfield, was charged with driving under the influence early Wednesday.

Hyde was pulled over by police after he failed to stop at a red traffic light at the downtown intersection of Post Road West and Riverside Avenue, according to the report.

An officer smelled a "strong odor" of alcohol beverage on Hyde's breath, police said. He also failed field sobriety tests, according to police.

Hyde was charged with operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol and failure to obey a control signal. He was released on $250 bond and is scheduled to appear May 6 in Norwalk Superior Court.
