Brett Saltus, 49, of Fairfield, was arrested on a warrant Aug. 25 and charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal possession near a school a short time after police received a call about a pickup truck being operated erratically on Easton Road.

The caller had reported the truck pulled into a driveway of a home across the street from Coleytown Elementary School. Officers found Saltus, who had been driving the vehicle, walking around on the property. While searching the pickup, officers allegedly located several hundred plastic bags, similar to those used to distribute heroin. Some of these bags were still full, police said. Also found were several hypodermic needles.

Bond for Saltus was set at $10,000 and he is scheduled to appear Sept. 7 in Norwalk Superior Court.
