WESTPORT — A 30-year-old man from Freeport, Maine has been arrested in connection to an April 2017 accident that killed a 9-year-old boy, police said.

Police determined that Jesse Zorski, 30, was at fault for an accident that killed Casey Savage, of Kitteredge, Maine.

On Friday, April 27, Zorski turned himself to Connecticut State Police Troop G to face charges of misconduct with a motor vehicle, following too closely, speeding and distracted driving. He was held on a $100,000 cash bond and given a court date of May 9.

Police said the accident resulted from Zorski failing to stop and rear-ending a car driven by Anjelica Fontanez-Ordonnez, 28, of Kitterly, Maine. Savage was inside the vehicle that was rear-ended.

Savage suffered “a severe head injury” as a result of the accident and was transported to Norwalk Hospital, but later moved to Yale-New Haven Hospital, police said. A day later, Savage was pronounced dead.

The rear-end collision also left two people with minor injuries, state police said.

According to the accident summary report, traffic in the left lane slowed suddenly, causing two vehicles to “come to an abrupt stop” south of Exit 17.

The force of impact pushed Fontanez-Ordonnez’s Toyota Camry into the rear of a vehicle driven by Taylor Brown, 26, of Hamilton Avenue in Stamford.

Troopers say Fontanez-Ordonnez and Zorski were taken to Norwalk Hospital for minor injures. Brown was not injured.
