WESTPORT—A downed tree suspended on wires caused police to temporarily close the stretch of Main Street from the Cross Highway intersection to Compo Road North on July 18, according to a police department press release.
Police asked that drivers to avoid the Main Street area due to the closure and related traffic delays. Traffic was diverted north up Cross Highway and south along Compo Road North and Clinton Avenue.
Energy company Eversource will be responding to the area for repairs, which police expect to be finished within the night, according to the press release.
For a short time on Monday afternoon, Eversource also reported one customer power outage in Westport, according to the company’s website.
