Letter: Thanks for help after car crash

My husband, Charlie, and I recently were involved in an accident. We lost our car, and I was hospitalized for a night in Norwalk Hospital. From the first firefighters, police and ambulance crew we were treated to compassionate care. We read so much about people in the community who are short-tempered and uncivil that I want to report that this town has its caring population as well.
The firefighters had to remove the door of our car to get me out. They placed me on a stretcher with a collar, and the EMTs drove us to the hospital. The Woman's Club followed up with many meals. And between the town Human Services Department and the Center for Senior Activities, in the persons of Terry Geigengack and Sue Pfister, they worked hard to make sure we had all the services we needed.
The Visiting Nurse of Fairfield County, the Norwalk Transit District and RSVP, which supplies drivers to doctors and other medical needs, stepped in. We are being set up for ITN Coastal Network. You just don't know what's available until you need it, and the town lets you know how it can help.
Thank you, Westport.
