Letter: Steinberg's high marks on environment

I have worked together with Jonathan Steinberg over the last five years in the areas of conservation and preserving the health and welfare of the people of Westport and the surrounding communities.
Jonathan led the task force in educating thousands of Westport homeowners on the need for regular septic maintenance in order to preserve our water supply. When I was chairman of the Conservation Committee, Jonathan worked with me in Hartford to introduce legislation that would protect children and pets from the dangers posed by lawncare herbicides and pesticides and to control indiscriminant tree clearance that would lead to flooding and soil erosion.
Jonathan is also a major supporter of the Wakeman Town Farm where he is totally involved in helping to ensure that the farm remains a major asset to the town of Westport.
The best things about Jonathan are his intelligence, warmth, willingness to listen to all sides of an issue, and his ability to work with people on both sides of the aisle in order to get the best solutions for Westport. In summary we are very lucky to have Jonathan represent us in Hartford and I strongly endorse him for re-election.
