Letter: Lavielle's fiscal acumen needed

From the moment Gail Lavielle was elected, she has been a tireless and effective voice on our behalf. She is deserving of reelection, and I am proud to enthusiastically support her in this effort.
A quick look at any local newspaper tells you that our state faces some tough challenges in the coming months. Our unemployment rate is 9 percent. Our state was ranked dead last by Barron's in terms of debt and fiscal management. And a recent study by UConn economists predicts that we won't recover the jobs lost in the recession until 2018.
Gail understands our state's precarious situation and is a leading voice for economic reform. Rather than continue to raise taxes and throw money at our problems, Gail understands that we need to fundamentally change our approach to fiscal management. She is a true leader, and we need her in Hartford.
