I was surprised to read a recent letter to the editor crediting Helen Garten with pension reform.

The truth is just the opposite. Under her leadership, she enacted no pension reform and she allowed the other post-employment benefits (OPEB) problem to become larger.

It is only after Avi Kaner took over the chairmanship of the finance and pension boards two years ago that reform finally occurred. Avi clearly demonstrated that he can develop consensus, make the difficult decisions, and move our town forward.

Please vote for the Marpe/Kaner team for leadership that is thoughtful and capable.
