Smart Kids with Learning Disabilities, a Westport-based national nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering the parents of children with learning disabilities and ADHD, has opened nominations for its 2014 Fred J. Epstein Youth Achievement Award. The $1,000 award recognizes the strengths and accomplishments of young people with learning disabilities and ADHD. It will be given to a student age 19 or younger who has demonstrated initiative, talent and determination resulting in a notable accomplishment in any field. Honorable Mentions will also be awarded.

The award will be presented at the organization's annual benefit April 25 at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich.

An application may be submitted by parents, teachers, coaches, mentors or students, and may be downloaded from the Smart Kids website, The contest deadline is Jan. 31.
