Kayakers set forth Wednesday to enjoy a balmy late-summer evening on the water and to support a Westport-based organization's efforts to ensure those waters stay environmentally sound.

The 2nd annual Sunset Paddling was organized by DownUnder Kayaking in Rowayton to benefit Earthplace of Westport and its Harbor Watch/River Watch program. The program strives to help protect and restore the biological integrity of the Long Island Sound and its watershed.

The fund-raising kayakers plied the Five Mile River, framed by the setting golden sun, followed up by refreshments at the Rowayton Market.
