Joseloff recovering from prostate cancer surgery
First Selectman Gordon Joseloff, who last week took a medical leave from office, is recovering at home after surgery for prostate cancer.
Last week, Town Attorney Ira Bloom confirmed a Westport News report that Joseloff would be out of the office several weeks for a medical issue, but added that the 66-year-old first selectman would be working from home and that no one would be assuming his chief executive authority in the interim.
This week, in a statement from Joseloff's office on the death of former Selectman Gavin Anderson, it was acknowledged that Joseloff was recovering from prostate cancer surgery. There was no indication when he might return to work at his Town Hall office.
Joseloff is a Democrat serving his second term as first selectman. He is a former CBS News correspondent and a former moderator of the Representative Town Meeting. In addition to serving as the town's chief executive official, he is also the publisher of Westport Now, a community website that he founded in 2003.
