Janet Judd, 81, was a Sherman native, active volunteer in town

Mrs. Judd was born Oct. 27, 1923, in Sherman, daughter of the late John Gibb and Ella (Beyer) Morren.

She was a 1942 graduate of New Milford High School. She worked as a licensed practical nurse at New Milford Hospital from 1967 to 1985.

She and her husband also owned and operated the Judd Construction Co. in Sherman. She served on the Commission on Aging, the Republican Town Committee and Sherman North Cemetery. She was a Girl Scout leader, a deaconess at the Sherman Congregational Church, a registrar of voters, and a member of the Palm Rebekah Lodge.

Mrs. Judd is survived by a son, Joel and his wife Roberta of Sherman; a daughter, Cynthia Corson and her husband Raymond of Purcellville, Va.; three sisters, Ruth VanDuzee of Sherman, Emile Parker of Gaylordsville and Barbara Wasley of Warren; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Whetstine of Newport News, Va., Rebecca Smith of Hamilton, Va., Leah Corson of Purcellville and Krystal and Coralynne of Sherman; two great-grandchildren, Hadley Smith and Clayton Whetstine; and 11 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Andrew Morren.

The Lillis Funeral Home of New Milford was in charge of arrangements.
