John M. MacDonald, 77, of Westport, husband of Florence (Anastasia) MacDonald, died March 28, 2010, at home in the company of his family.

Born Nov. 13, 1932, in Norwalk, son of the late Arthur and Ann (Lamb) MacDonald, he was a resident of Westport for the past 50 years.

Prior to retiring in 1982, MacDonald had been employed by Nash Engineering in Norwalk for 26 years, in the Quality Control Department as an inspector. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of the Frank C. Godfrey American Legion Post No. 12 in Norwalk.

He was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan and an avid fisherman. MacDonald also enjoyed spending time making his friends laugh, and adored his family and spending time with them.

He is survied by his wife of 47 years, Florence; his three daughters, Kathleen MacDonald of Southbury, Patty McCormick and her husband, Mike of Westport, and Sheila Nicholson and her husband, Sean of Southbury; five grandchildren, Thomas MacDonald, Billy and Nicholas Gallo, and Shane and Hannah Nicholson; and many nieces and nephews.

MacDonald was also predeceased by one brother and five sisters.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, April 7, at 10 a.m., at Saint Luke Church, 49 Turkey Hill Road N., Westport. Interment with full military honors will follow in Assumption Cemetery on Greens Farms Road, Westport. There will be no calling hours.
