You won't have to brave the New Jersey weather outside MetLife Stadium to do some pre-Super Bowl tailgating. In fact, you can stay indoors in Westport, but still be part of a pre-game crowd.

Friends of the Westport Center for Senior Activities said they will host their eighth annual Super Bowl Tailgate Party on Sunday afternoon, Feb.2, at the center. It will feature free food, cheerleaders, games and prizes.

The party is from 1:15 to 4 p.m. and is planned for football fans of all ages -- and for people who don't know a slot receiver from a slot machine but like the food and atmosphere.

"Last year's event was a tremendous success and lots of fun," Jack Klinge, the friends' president said in a news release. "We expect this year to be even better."

Food will include hotdogs from Oscar's Deli, chips and dips and beverages.

Cheerleaders from Staples High School and PAL youth teams will be on hand, along with Staples football players and members of Westport's 2013 Little League World Series baseball team and state champion girls' softball team.

Attendees can stay for the whole event and still get settled in front of a TV before 6:30 p.m., when Super Bowl XLVIII between the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks gets under way.

The party will have games and prizes, plus a "guess the final score" contest.

During the party, the friends group will present its annual Service to Seniors Award to Carol Fisher, the group's longtime program chairman.

The Westport Center for Senior Activities is at 21 Imperial Ave.
