Cookbook author and blogger Rinku Bhattacharya will be at the Westport Library at 11:30 a.m. Thursday to discuss her book, “Spices & Seasons: Simple, Sustainable Indian Flavors.”

Her talk will be followed by a walk to the nearby Westport Farmers Market.

Bhattacharya will discuss her book as well as cooking techniques and her philosophy, which blends the spices of India with the four seasons of an American backyard garden, according to publicity for the event. The tour of the farmers market after the program will give attendees a chance to check out the seasonal ingredients and grasp some of the concepts in the book.

Bhattacharya is a cooking teacher and the author of the blog "Spice Chronicles” ( Her expertise is in meshing the flavors of her Indian childhood with local produce from the Hudson Valley. She contributes to several local newspapers and is the author of “The Bengali Five Spice Chronicles,” winner of the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2013 for Best Indian Cuisine.

Books will be available for purchase and signing at the program, which is free and open to the public.
