WESTPORT — Kids got to go door to door without leaving the safety of the United Methodist Church’s parking lot on Saturday afternoon.

The second annual “Trunk or Treat” tailgate Halloween event brought the holiday to the back of people’s cars, with dozens of themes celebrated in tailgate style, including Ghostbusters, Indiana Jones, Charlie Brown and the Wizard of Oz.

“It’s all about fun for the kids, up to 12 years old, but it’s also about giving back to the community,” said Dan Gelman, chairman of the church’s council.

Price of admission, he said, was that people were requested to bring two cans of food to donate to the Person-to-Person pantry in Norwalk.
