WESTPORT — A flock of community-minded individuals raised a gaggle of green for good causes Saturday when the Sunrise Rotary Club hosted the Great Duck Race downtown on the Saugatuck River.

“This is the 10th year,” said incoming President Eileen Lavigne Flug. “It’s our major fundraiser.”

Close to 3,000 little yellow toy ducks were corralled in the river and sent downstream in a race to raise money. There were also a nest of activities for kids along the riverside in Parker-Harding Plaza, including crafts, painting and food trucks.

“All of our net proceeds help fund our national and international charities,” said Flug, who described the organization as a place “where good people have fun doing good.”
