FAIRFIELD — A colossal pedal push of power raised around $2 million for charity Saturday when the 13th annual CT Challenge took place.

Raising funds for the Mission Training Center in Southport, which aids cancer survivors, over 1,200 bike riders did sponsored rides of up to 100 miles, leaving from Fairfield County Hunt Club in Westport in the early morning.

“We raised $2 million last year,” said Lara Linsenmeyer, who coordinated a team of close to 500 volunteers to make the event, which originally began in Fairfield at Greenfield Hill Congregational Church in 2005, come to fruition. “Hopefully we will surpass that.”
