WESTPORT — Three performing groups came together this weekend for a powerhouse collaboration of the opera “Amahl and the Night Visitors, raising money for United Methodist Church on Jan. 5.

Thanks to Christopher Hisey, music director for the American Chamber Orchestra, his group combined with performers from the Troupers Light Opera Company and kids from Mary Ann Hall’s Music for Children to produce two performances in the church sanctuary.

“ ‘Amahl and the Night Visitors’ is one of my favorite pieces,” Hisey said, “and I just wanted an excuse to do it. And I thought it would be a nice way to raise some money for the church.”

“The level of performers in this show is so intense,” said Kevin Miller, stage director, who directed more than 30 separate performers. “Consummate professionals. It’s been an absolute pleasure.”
