In Pictures: A hootenanny in Westport

WESTPORT — The spirit of Woody Guthrie was channeled Friday evening at an old-fashioned hootenanny at the Westport Country Playhouse.

Celebrating next month’s run of “Woody Sez,” New York City actor David Lutken, who will play the title role, brought his guitar and some friends from the city to a group sing-along at the Lucille Lortel White Barn Center.

Old-time folk songs were shared, with many people in the capacity crowd bringing their own instruments or joining in with voice.

“This is just a great way to bring the community together,” said Peter Chenot, director of marketing, “have a little fun and learn something about Woody before the show.”

The performance will run Jan 9-20.
