WESTPORT — Temperatures tickled the 90s Saturday morning as the Westport Library’s Summer Book Sale opened on its grounds by the Saugatuck River.

Scores of people beat the heat by showing up early and savoring the shade of the massive white tents forming a sun umbrella over tens of thousands of books, records, DVDs, VHS tapes and special collector’s editions.

The sale was dedicated this year to late Westport Artist Howard Munce who died recently at age 100. His personal book collection is housed in the Library’s McManus Room.
