“It’s a Hoot,” a hootenanny-style evening of folk and contemporary music, will be hosted Friday by the Westport Historical Society.

The event, from 6 to 8 p.m., will feature Suzanne Sheridan, of Westport, and four other area singer-songwriters.

It will take place at historical society headquarters, 25 Avery Place. There also will be refreshments, and audience members are invited to sing along.

Sheridan, also a guitarist and portrait photographer, will sing songs from her latest CD, “Standing Ovation,” accompanied by guitarist and singer-songwriter Paul Horton.

The program will also feature Nancy Burger, Tim Wilson and Bill Lauf.

“Everybody gets involved and it’s absolutely wonderful to be in that energy,” Sheridan said in publicity for the event. Each singer will perform a 20-minute set, and all will then share the stage for the last portion of the program.

There is a $20 fee, and reservations are required. Call 203-222-1424 or visit westporthistory.org for more information.
