The annual community Thanksgiving Day feast, hosted by Saugatuck Congregational Church, returns to the historic church this year after being forced to relocate for four years because of a devastating 2011 fire.

The holiday event marks its 45th anniversary this Thanksgiving, Nov. 26. The feast has taken place at the Christ and Holy Trinity Epsicopal Church hall since a blaze on the night of Nov. 20, 2011, inflicted heavy damage at the back portion of the church complex — as preparations were underway for that year’s Thanksgiving feast.

Organizers are seeking volunteers and donors to support this year’s holiday dinner, which is being co-sponsored by Temple Israel, the United Methodist Church of Westport and Weston, and the Unitarian Church in Westport.

More than 100 volunteers are needed, and there will be an orientation at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church, 245 Post Road East. At the session, prospective volunteers will learn about volunteer functions, time commitments and kitchen rules, as well as answer questions. Volunteers can sign up online by going to www.saugatuckchurch.org and clicking on the Thanksgiving Feast link.

Donations are needed to defray the of the event, according to organizers. Checks should be made out to Saugatuck Congregational Church, 245 Post Road East, Westport, CT 06880, and note “Thanksgiving Feast” in the memo line.
