WESTPORT — A piece of “heavy construction equipment” flipped over and shut down a portion of Greens Farms Road on Monday morning.

Police and firefighters responded to the area of 213 Greens Farms Road around 9 a.m. on reports of a trailer carrying construction equipment that had flipped.

“Fortunately, the vehicle pulling the trailer remained upright and the driver of the vehicle did not sustain any injuries,” Assistant Fire Chief Brett Kirby said in a statement.

The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection also responded to the scene to deal with a fluid leak from the equipment.

Greens Farms Road was shut down for “an extended period” as the roadway was cleared, Kirby said.

The road was reopened around 11:30 a.m.
